Fall Destin trip

Last week, Richie and I went to Destin.  October is probably our favorite time to go to the beach.  The weather is perfect, and it is not crowded.  We are so thankful to have willing grandparents who helped out with the kids while we were away!  Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Project 52 - Sad

The theme for this week's Project 52 is Sad.  We were so sad to leave this view when our vacation was over...

Candy Corn Cookie Bark with Mamie

Mamie was off for Fall Break on Thursday, so I thought it would be fun to make a treat in the kitchen.  We made some Candy Corn Cookie Bark.   It's a great recipe for kids in the kitchen because there is no cooking involved, and she was able to do everything on her own. It is super sweet, but the kids love it!




Candy Corn Cookie Bark
(recipe source: slightly adapted from Recipe Girl)

14 Oreos, broken into pieces
1 1/2 cup pretzels, broken into pieces
1 lb. white chocolate, almond bark or melts (We actually used the whole 24 oz. package)
1 cup candy corn
Halloween sprinkles

Cover a large cookie sheet with wax paper.  Spread broken Oreos, pretzels and about 3/4 C of the candy corn onto the waxed paper.  Melt the white chocolate in the microwave until melted and smooth.  Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cookie mixture, spreading with spatula if needed to coat evenly. Sprinkle remaining candy corn and colored sprinkles over the chocolate while it is still wet.  Place cookie sheet into refrigerator until set and firm.  Remove and gently break into small pieces.  Store in air-tight container.

Project 52 - Cool Evenings

The theme for this week's Project 52 is Cool Evenings. She had to wear her warm socks to bed this week!

Fall Sewing results

I completed the Kids' Week Clothing Challenge this week.  I didn't get very much accomplished.  Yard work, kids on Fall Break, etc... were all competing for my attention.  I hope to get some other things completed later on this month.

I made this skirt for Margaret.


I made a skirt from this pattern for Mamie.  She LOVES it which is a huge win for me since it is getting harder and harder to find clothes for her that we both like!
