Summer Recap #2 - Camp & Around the World Dinners

At the end of July we went with our church to help run Camp Palmer which is held in Mentone, Alabama at Camp DeSoto.  Mamie and Griffin were campers, but Margaret stayed with us.  Richie was the worship speaker, and I helped with a ice cream making class and running the camp snack store.  It is always such a fun time.

Throughout the summer we did our second annual Around The World dinners.  This year we had food and presentations from Japan, India and England. (I apologize in advance for the quality of these pictures.  I never learned how to take pictures in the kitchen at the house on Avon.  Everything looks gray...)

For Japan, I made edamame and rice and ordered sushi and miso soup from our favorite sushi restaurant, Sekisui.

Mamie and Griffin did a presentation on Japan,

and Griffin made an earthquake out of legos, because "they have a lot of earthquakes in Japan."

Margaret then showed us some of her best karate moves.

For India, I made chicken curry, rice, Naan bread and curried cauliflower.

The kids did another presentation,

For England, I made fish and chips and we had shortbread and tea for dessert.
