Downtown Museum Day 2013

We went downtown on Saturday for the annual Downtown Museum Day.  The weather was perfect at about 75 degrees!  I can't believe it is already starting to feel like fall here.  We started out at the Memphis Railroad and Trolley Museum.  We enjoyed learning about the history of the Memphis railroad, and the kids loved the model trains.

After that we went to the Memphis Farmer's Market and walked around for a little while.  Then we headed to the Fire Museum of Memphis.  The little kids loved playing in the fire trucks and getting to practice putting out a fire.  A very nice retired fireman walked us around and told us all about the history of the Memphis fire department and fire trucks.   He also taught us a lot about fire safety after taking us through a home fire simulation.

After lunch at the Flying Fish, we headed over to the Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art.  They had a very large collection of Asian art that was very interesting and unusual.  Most of this was lost on the kids!  (The Judaic art section was closed for construction while we were there.)

We loved this even again this year, and we hope to enjoy some different museums next year too!
