Happy Birthday, Richie!
Today is Richie's birthday! We are so thankful for him, and we love him so much! We celebrated it early last week with a fun family dinner of some of his favorite foods. I made him cheese enchiladas and his favorite strawberry cake!

Around the World Dinner - Germany
Last night we had an around the world dinner featuring foods from Germany. We grilled bratwurst, and I made homemade soft pretzels and apple strudel. We also listened to some German music on spotify.
Richie and Griffin taught us about German cars.
Mamie researched Germany and shared some facts with us.
Margaret drew the German flag and some German foods.

Go Cards!
We took a quick overnight trip to St. Louis on Monday with Mamie and Griffin to watch a Cardinals game. We arrived at lunch time on Monday, and we had lunch at Gioia's Deli on The Hill. (Everyone in the family ordered the Italian Trio and loved it, except for me. I ordered the Iron Man and it was great too!)
After lunch we stopped by Ted Drewes for some of their famous concretes. Richie loved the Heath concrete, Mamie loved her cookies and cream concrete and Griffin loved his hot fudge concrete!
Next we took a trip to the St. Louis zoo for a couple of hours. It is a really great zoo, and it is also totally free! We really enjoyed the penguin exhibit. We also loved seeing the baby zebra and the baby camel (named "Stan").
After a short rest at the hotel, we made our way to the stadium for the game. The Cardinals played the Arizona Diamondbacks, and it was a great game. They won 7-1, and we got to see two home runs! This was the kids first time to see a major league baseball game, and they thought it was so much fun.
On Tuesday morning we made our way back to the zoo to finish seeing the rest of the animals. Our favorite exhibits on Tuesday were the hippos and the butterflies.
Before leaving town, we ate at Al-Tarboush Deli, a yummy Middle Eastern deli on The Delmar Loop. They had some of the best falafel and hummus we have ever eaten.

It was a quick but very fun little trip to one of our favorite cities to visit!
